I worked as a senior designer on the agency team hired to design Faraday Future’s in-car interfaces. For 8+ months, we worked in-house with the company’s product directors, UX designers, and engineers. We were tasked with creating a user interface that was flexible enough to span across the FF91’s 12 screens.

The company’s target demographic includes wealthy executives and young, tech-savvy entrepreneurs, so we designed a simple visual style with hints of luxury and sci-fi. The design system we created is modular and scalable, allowing it to constantly evolve. By using Abstract for design libraries and Zeplin for developer handoff, we were able to systematically manage the complex design process. All interfaces are designed in both day mode and night mode.

Heads-Up Display

I served as a design lead for the HUD interface, which functions as a replacement to the traditional instrument cluster dashboard. This was a unique challenge because we needed to fit complex interfaces, menus, and notifications into a very limited space, while making the steering wheel controls intuitive for the driver.

Mobile App

I also led the interface design for the vehicle’s mobile app, which serves as a replacement to a traditional key fob. Additionally, it gives the driver smart car functionality: charge management, climate control, and location tracking. Working with the company’s UX designers, I created the full interface system including user creation/login flows, core functions, error states, and more.
